RBI Rate Hike: Why Now?

Rising oil prices, inflation risks and higher US rates are putting pressure on the RBI to raise the repo rate. An ET poll shows 20 of 21 economists expect a 25-bps hike to 5.50% on October 7. Strong 7.8% GDP growth gives the central bank more room to tighten policy.
