Panchkula school case news: Class III boy allegedly used a doorstop brick to attack a KG girl, misled her parents and later confessed.
A Class III student allegedly used a brick kept near a classroom door as a weapon to attack a six-year-old KG girl at a government school in Panchkula. The boy initially told the girl's family that some other students had assaulted her. However, after police examined CCTV footage and questioned him, he allegedly admitted to the attack, claiming that the girl used to tease him, a TOI report stated. The investigation has also brought several lapses in school security to light. The girl was allegedly taken to an empty classroom on the first floor, where students of Classes XI and XII usually attend lessons. After the assault, she was left injured and bleeding on the floor. Police said the classroom door was subsequently locked by the school's security guard without checking whether anyone was inside. The incident has raised serious questions about student supervision and safety arrangements at the government school.

Brick used as a classroom doorstop turned into a weapon

Police investigations have revealed that the brick allegedly used in the assault was kept inside the classroom to prevent the door from closing. According to investigators, the boy allegedly used the brick to repeatedly hit the younger student, leaving her with serious injuries to her face. CCTV footage reportedly showed the sequence of events inside the classroom.

The boy allegedly attacked the girl with a brick and a dustbin. He also dragged her by her hair, struck her head against a bench and kicked her in the face, police said. Investigators are examining how the Class III student managed to take the girl to an empty classroom without being noticed by school staff.

Security guard locked classroom with injured girl inside

The investigation has pointed to another serious lapse after the alleged assault. Police said the incident took place in a classroom on the first floor that was used by senior students. Their classes had already ended, leaving the room vacant. After allegedly attacking the girl, the boy left her injured inside the classroom. The security guard later shut and locked the room without checking its contents.

A police officer said the girl could have remained inside for much longer if the boy had not disclosed where she was and investigators had not examined the CCTV recordings. The officer said police might otherwise have continued searching for her in other parts of the school. The delay could have further affected her health.

Boy initially told parents someone else had attacked her

The incident came to light when the auto-rickshaw driver who regularly drops and picks up students informed the girl's family that she had not reached the designated pick-up point after school. Her father, who works as a barber, immediately rushed to the school to find her.

Police said the boy approached the family and initially claimed that some other students had beaten up the girl. However, when her family eventually found her inside the locked classroom, she was in a critical condition. Her father reportedly fainted after seeing the extent of her injuries. The police subsequently examined CCTV footage and questioned the boy again. During questioning, he allegedly admitted that he had assaulted the girl. A police officer said the boy claimed that he attacked her because she used to tease him.

Boy sent to Ambala Observation Home

The Class III student was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board (JJB) in Panchkula on Saturday. The board sent him to the Observation Home in Ambala. Police are also examining the circumstances that may have contributed to his behaviour.

His brain-mapping test is scheduled to be conducted again at PGIMER on Monday. Investigators said further legal action would depend on the findings of his mental health evaluation. Police are also looking into whether excessive exposure to violent video games could have influenced his behaviour. His parents are being questioned as part of the investigation. Meanwhile, the six-year-old girl is reportedly recovering at PGIMER.

School principal suspended, two teachers also face action

The Haryana education department suspended the principal of the government school in Sector 20, Panchkula, on Sunday following the incident. During the suspension period, her headquarters will remain at the office of the District Education Officer in Ambala.

Two teachers had already been suspended on Saturday. Police said no arrests had been made in the FIR registered against the school management at the time of filing this report. Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances surrounding the assault, including the alleged security lapses and the role of school staff.

A police officer said further action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.
