Not just buying Rafales: India wants design, development and manufacturing at home
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said India wants to advance “Make in India” in defence manufacturing, stressing that New Delhi prefers greater co-development, co-design, co-production and co-manufacturing as discussions with France on various defence platforms continue. Speaking in Nice, Misri said India must pursue the objective of “maximising local content and local manufacturing”, adding that talks on multiple defence platforms, including the Rafale, are ongoing and further details will be shared when there is something concrete to announce.
