    PM Modi arrives in Bhutan for 2-day visit

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in Bhutan for a two-day visit. He will celebrate the 70th birthday of the fourth king. Modi will also hold talks with Bhutan's King and Prime Minister. Together, they will inaugurate a major hydroelectric project. The visit aims to strengthen India-Bhutan friendship and cooperation. Sacred Buddha relics from India are also on display.

    Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay hailed the Wangchhu Hydropower Project agreement with Adani Power Ltd. as a historic step in Bhutan-India's clean energy collaboration.     Modi, on a two-day visit to Thimphu, was honoured with Bhutan’s highest civilian award, the Order of the Druk Gyalpo, becoming the first non-Bhutanese to achieve the distinction. “This honour is not my personal achievement, it is the honour of India and 140 crore Indians. I humbly accept this honour on behalf of all Indians in this great land of Bhutan and thank you all from the bottom of my heart for this honour," Modi said on the occasion.
