Stone pelting, vandalism at Patliputra station disturb exam-bound students; heavy police deployed
Heavy police deployment remains in place at Patliputra Railway Station after a stone-pelting incident led to vandalism of a train coach and nearby property. Senior officials are monitoring the situation, while Patna DM Dr. Thiyagarajan said the unrest began around midnight when some individuals created disturbances, repeatedly pulled emergency chains, raised demands despite special trains being available, and obstructed exam candidates from travelling, prompting authorities to use mild force. He added that the situation is now under control and train operations have resumed normally. Eyewitness Sanjay Kumar Sharma said a large crowd of students, frustrated by inadequate train availability for exam travel, blocked trains and later turned violent during efforts to clear the blockade, resulting in extensive damage to shops and property.
