Gold prices saw mixed movements today (Wednesday, October 7, 2026), with jewellery rates increasing at most leading jewellery brands and decreasing at one brand. The India Bullion and Jewellers Association Ltd (IBJA) also posted lower indicative rates of gold and silver jewellery today.

While Tanishq reduced its 22k gold jewellery price today, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, Joyalukkas and Kalyan Jewellers increased their rates compared to the prices on October 6. Meanwhile, the IBJA’s benchmark rates for 24k, 22k, 20k, 18k and 14k gold and the 999-purity silver price also slipped.

Gold-silver outlook

Prithviraj Kothari, Managing Director at RiddiSiddhi Bullions Ltd., President of IBJA says, "Gold and silver slipped further as oil rebounded on renewed Middle East supply risks, with Iran stepping up tanker attacks in the Strait of Hormuz and Saudi forces clashing with the Houthis. Higher oil keeps inflation and rate hike fears alive, and while softer data cooled October bets, traders still price an 85% chance of a December hike. Treasury yields hover near multi-decade highs. Markets now await the Fed minutes for clues on policymakers' appetite for further tightening. Technically, gold support sits at $4100 (~ Rs 148,500), while silver has broken a head-and-shoulders neckline, eyeing $57 (~ Rs 220,000) next."
