Dronathon 2026: IAF demonstrates multi-mode system designed to facilitate drones' management in airspace
The Indian Air Force recently showcased the Vayu UTtaM drone management system at Pokhran. This innovative system provides crucial support in managing drones and detecting rogue aircraft within congested airspace. At Dronathon 2026, various domestic unmanned aerial systems and counter-drone technologies were highlighted, alongside the unveiling of the IAF UAS Roadmap aimed at guiding the industry towards achieving self-reliance in unmanned systems.
Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann takes over as Southern Air Command Chief
Air Marshal Jasvir Singh Mann has taken charge as the new Commanding-in-Chief of Southern Air Command. A decorated officer with extensive experience, including over 3,000 flying hours on various fighter jets, Mann brings a distinguished career spanning nearly four decades to his new role. President Droupadi Murmu has approved Gallantry awards for 70 Armed Forces personnel. This includes the highest peacetime award, the Ashok Chakra, for Group Captain Shubhanshu Shukla. President Droupadi Murmu approves 80 gallantry awards including 6 Kirti Chakra and 16 Shaurya Chakra on the eve of the 75th Republic Day. 3 out of 6 Kirti Chakra and 2 out of 16 Shaurya Chakra are conferred posthumously. Kirti Chakra awardees include Major Digvijay Singh Rawat, Major Deependra Vikram Basnet, and Havildar Pawan Kumar Yadav.

Gallantry Awards: Six awarded Kirti Chakra, all for Ops in Kashmir
Given the relative peace in the North East, most awardees are for operations in Kashmir, including Major Subhang who was instrumental in killing two terrorists in a close quarter battle at Budgam.
