    UP revises minimum wages from April 1: Check list
    The Uttar Pradesh government has announced an interim increase in minimum pay for unskilled, semi-skilled, and skilled workers after workers' protests in Noida triggered violence on Monday (April 13, 2026). As per a press statement, the revised wages for these workers will be applicable from April 1, 2026.


    Who will get the highest salary hike?

    Workers from Noida and Ghaziabad will get the highest salary hike at 21%. Workers in other municipal corporation districts will see their minimum wages rising by nearly 15%, while those from other districts will see a hike of 9.21%.
    The UP government has also clarified that claims circulating on social media about a Rs 20,000 minimum wage are misleading, stating that no such statewide minimum wage has been officially fixed.

    Current minimum wages remain legally applicable in UP

    According to the notification, the Uttar Pradesh government has recently notified minimum wage rates. Accordingly, unskilled workers are entitled to Rs 11,313.65 per month, or a daily wage of Rs 435.14. Similarly, for semi-skilled workers, the monthly wage has been fixed at Rs 12,446 and the daily wage at Rs 478.69. For skilled workers, the current monthly wage is Rs 13,940.37 and the daily wage is Rs 536.16.
    The rules under the new labour codes are currently under the process of implementation, the release said.

    The state government is also holding extensive consultations with all stakeholders, including employer organisations and worker unions. Suggestions and objections received are being carefully examined so that a balanced and practical decision can be taken, the UP government said.

    UP government clarifies rumours about Rs 20,000 minimum wage

    The state government has addressed false claims being widely circulated on social media that the minimum wage in the state has been fixed at Rs 20,000 per month.

    “The Uttar Pradesh government would like to clarify that the misleading information being circulated through social media is completely baseless. The chief minister has appealed to the public to rely only on information from official sources,” the press release said.
