    Synopsis

Iran War News Updates Live: The Israeli military has warned residents in southern Lebanon not to move south of a specified village line until further notice. The advisory comes after the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) released a detailed map of the “Forward Defence Line”, also referred to as the “Yellow Line”, following the implementation of a 10-day ceasefire.

The announcement clarifies the operational zone where Israeli forces remain positioned deep inside Lebanon territory.

The military confirmed that despite the truce, which took effect at midnight on April 16, a significant contingent of five divisions along with Israeli Navy forces continues to operate south of this line.

The IDF said the continued deployment is essential to “fundamentally change the security reality” along the northern border.

In a post on X, the IDF stated: “REVEALED: The Forward Defence Line and the area in which IDF soldiers are operating following the ceasefire agreement. Five divisions are operating simultaneously south of the Forward Defence Line in southern Lebanon in order to dismantle Hezbollah terror infrastructure sites and to prevent direct threats to communities in northern Israel.”

The IDF issued a detailed operational update outlining its ongoing military posture along the Forward Defence Line, stating that multiple divisions are actively engaged in dismantling infrastructure linked to Hezbollah and preventing threats to northern Israel.

According to the statement, operations are continuing even after the ceasefire arrangement, with a focus on maintaining what it describes as a buffer zone to safeguard civilian communities.

The development comes amid reports of friction in the border region. The IDF said it carried out air and ground attacks over the last 24 hours against individuals who approached the Yellow Line, describing such movements as violations of ceasefire understandings.

In the final 24 hours before the truce, the military claimed that over 150 Hezbollah fighters were killed, including Bint Jbeil sector commander Ali Rida Abbas. More than 300 military infrastructure sites, including launchers and storage facilities, were also struck.

Explosive demolitions of structures were reported in Bayada and Nakura as Israeli forces strengthened control over the new security zone.

IRGC hardliners in control of Iran's military and diplomacy, moderates sidelined: Report

    • The hardline Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has effectively seized control of Iran's military apparatus and diplomatic negotiation teams over the weekend, according to a report by The New York Post citing regional analysts.
    • IRGC Commander Maj. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi and his inner circle have allegedly assumed leadership of the Islamic Republic. This internal power shift is underscored by recent maritime hostilities in the Strait of Hormuz and Tehran's decision to bypass scheduled peace negotiations with the United States.
    • The Washington-based Institute for the Study of War (ISW) noted that this transition signals the sidelining of more moderate figures, such as Foreign Affairs Minister Abbas Araghchi. While Araghchi had tentatively agreed to reopen the strategic waterway following discussions with the Trump administration, the IRGC overruled the move, insisting the strait remain closed to counter the American blockade of Iranian ports.
