ET Online8th CPC: Will CPSEs get separate pay panel?
In a reply to an unstarred question in Lok Sabha, Pankaj Chaudhary, Minister of State, Ministry of Finance, says there is no proposal under consideration for setting up a separate and institutional Pay Revision Committee (PRC) for non-executive employees and officers below board-level working in CPSEs.
The question was asked by member of Parliament, Laxmikant Pappu Nishad, who asked it in context to the salary revision of 8 lakh CPSE employees with effect from the year 2027.
Niashad was asking whether the government would form any separate committee for such CPSE employees similar to the 8th Pay Commission.
Nishad also asked whether the government acknowledges that the pay/wage revision process, formula for bonus/PRP, percentage of allowances and perks, and the pattern of profit sharing for officers and staff in CPSUs to revise their salaries vary significantly, and are inconsistent from CPSU to CPSU, thereby violating the principle of equal pay for equal work.
Nishad also asked what are the steps being taken by the government to standardise the said process and make the same more equitable.
Chaudhary replied variations in pay, allowances and incentives across CPSEs reflect differences in financial capacity and performance.
Chaudhary further says the government issues periodic uniform guidelines to ensure transparency, affordability and broad parity, while preserving the functional autonomy of CPSEs.
