Manipur: Curfew relaxation removed in all valley districts ahead of rally
The Manipur government has imposed a full curfew for a day and removed the daily curfew relaxation from 5 am to 6 pm in the five valley districts in view of a protest rally on Wednesday. The Kwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Coordinating Committee for Peace, which represents women in the main market of Imphal town, has appealed to all mothers to raise slogans during the "Mothers' Protest" rally from 11 am to 1 pm, demanding the rejection of separate administration, implementation of NRC, and immediate assembly session convening to support the protest against ongoing violence in the state.
Manipur violence: SC seeks status report from state government; lists the matter for July 10
The Supreme Court has asked the Manipur government to file an updated status report on the steps taken to rehabilitate and address the law and order situation in the state. The court listed a batch of petitions on the issue for hearing on July 10. The government was told to include details of rehabilitation camps, law and order, and recovery of arms in the report. The court is hearing pleas related to the Manipur situation, including a challenge to a high court order on Scheduled Tribe status and a demand for an SIT probe into the violence.
