    Election Commission trims electoral rolls by 10.2% across 12 states, UTs

    The Election Commission has significantly cleaned up voter lists. Over 60 lakh deceased voters were removed from nine states and three Union territories. This exercise reduced the voter base by 10.2 percent. Final rolls for Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal are now published. Further revisions are planned for other states and Union territories.

    Kargil war hero Sonam Wangchuk dies; defence minister, Army pay rich tributes

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and the Indian Army paid tribute to him as a proud son of Ladakh. His heroic actions during Operation Vijay inspired many. Colonel Wangchuk's life exemplified courage, sacrifice, and national integration.

    Mirwaiz said that the reports of cases, chargesheets and arrests of Kashmiris by "multiple agencies operating here - SIA , CIK , cyber cell, ACB , NIA, on one ground or another and frequent extra judicial dismissals of Kashmiri government employees with no recourse to judicial remedy is also pursued."

    Avalanche at Zojila Pass kills 7, injures 5

    A devastating snow avalanche struck the Zojilla Pass on Friday afternoon. The incident occurred in the zero point area connecting the Kashmir Valley with Ladakh. Seven individuals from Kargil lost their lives in the tragedy. Five others sustained injuries. Two people remain missing following the avalanche.

    Earthquake of 3.9 magnitude hits Leh, Ladakh

    An earthquake measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale shook Leh, Ladakh on Friday. The tremor occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers. The National Centre for Seismology reported the event. Earthquakes are a natural phenomenon occurring at various depths within the Earth's crust. This seismic activity was recorded on March 27, 2026.
