FSSAI emphasised that only regulated use of ethylene gas is permitted, while warning that violations could lead to prosecution, signalling a strong nationwide crackdown to ensure safer fruits for consumers.

    A surprise inspection by the Telangana Food Safety Department at a Mallapur cashew repacking unit uncovered 36 kg of insect-infested cashews, which were discarded.
