Samrat Signals Continuity, Pushes Clean Governance
It hasn't been a week since Samrat Choudhary took over from Nitish Kumar as Bihar chief minister, and he has begun signalling continuity in governance. Soon after being sworn in, Choudhary held a meeting with senior bureaucrats, directing them to adopt a zero-tolerance approach to corruption and ensure hassle-free delivery of services, especially in rural areas.

He also visited the Harihar Nath Temple in Saran district with his family. Echoing Nitish Kumar's style of direct public outreach, Choudhary organised a Janata Darbar in his first week.

He has also been reaching out to senior leaders. He received Nitish Kumar at his residence, visited senior BJP leader and former state president CP Thakur, and paid respects at the Karpoori Thakur Memorial.

Government sources said Choudhary will soon hold department-wise review meetings, with officials asked to prepare detailed presentations along with timelines. Currently handling 29 portfolios, along with deputy chief ministers Vijay Choudhary and Bijendra Yadav, he is expected to expand the cabinet by end-April or early May.
