Bhooth Bangla box-office day 1: Akshay Kumar's horror comedy starts strong, becomes superstar's top five biggest day one-grossers

The horror-comedy Bhooth Bangla, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead, has made an impressive debut in cinemas. The film recorded an estimated global opening of around Rs 23.90 crore, marking a robust start. With this performance, it has overtaken Dhurandhar: The Revenge, which had maintained its top position at the box office for nearly a month.

Opening Day Performance

According to early trade estimates, the film, helmed by Priyadarshan, generated approximately Rs 12.25 crore net on its first official day of release. In addition to this, paid preview screenings contributed close to Rs 3.50 crore net, taking the total domestic net earnings to nearly Rs 15.75 crore. These figures are slightly above initial industry predictions, which had placed the opening day collection at around Rs 15 crore.

Overall Earnings So Far

Data shared by Sacnilk indicates that Bhooth Bangla has accumulated a worldwide gross of about Rs 23.90 crore. Out of this, the India gross stands at roughly Rs 18.90 crore, while overseas markets have contributed close to Rs 5 crore. This balanced performance across domestic and international territories highlights the film’s strong initial reception.

Ends the Reign of a Blockbuster

With its solid opening, Bhooth Bangla has brought an end to the box office dominance of Dhurandhar: The Revenge. The Ranveer Singh starrer had been leading the charts for four consecutive weeks. However, on its 30th day, the film witnessed a noticeable drop, earning nearly Rs 2.70 crore net and about Rs 3.24 crore gross for the day. Despite this slowdown, its overall net collection remains exceptionally high at over Rs 1,105 crore.

Among Akshay Kumar’s Top Openers

The strong debut of Bhooth Bangla has secured it a place among the top five biggest opening-day performers of Akshay Kumar in the post-pandemic period. While Sooryavanshi continues to hold the leading position with an opening of about Rs 26.29 crore, Housefull 5 follows closely with a first-day collection of approximately Rs 24 crore.
