Airtel hikes postpaid plans by Rs 50, adds free annual international roaming

Bharti Airtel has raised its postpaid tariffs by Rs 50 and revamped its plans to offer customers one free international roaming trip every year. The new plans will take effect from October 8, 2026.

Existing postpaid subscribers will be moved to the nearest higher plan within a month, company sources told ET Online. An Airtel official said the free international roaming benefit is worth Rs 2,000.

The complimentary five-day roaming pack includes 5GB of data, 60 minutes of calls, 25 outgoing SMSes and free incoming SMSes. Customers can activate it whenever they choose, while every member on a family plan will be eligible for the benefit.

Airtel’s move comes after Vodafone Idea introduced free international roaming on select postpaid, prepaid and enterprise plans. Vi’s offer covers up to three international trips a year, depending on the plan, across more than 170 countries. The telecom operators are adding roaming, data, entertainment and safety benefits to premium plans to encourage customers to upgrade and generate more revenue from existing users.

Customers can activate the roaming pack at a time of their choice. On family postpaid plans, every member linked to the account will receive one free international roaming trip each year.

The new Airtel postpaid plans also offer Fast Lane technology on 5G, protection against spam and fraudulent links, entertainment subscriptions and access to the Airtel Postpaid Advantage Club.

The club offers customers access to experiences such as comedy shows, movie premieres and concerts.

Airtel postpaid plans: Price and benefits

The Rs 499 individual plan includes unlimited data and calling, spam and fraud prevention, Xstream Play Premium and Google One. It covers one SIM.

The Rs 749 family plan covers two SIMs and includes Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium and Google One.

The Rs 1,049 plan covers three SIMs and offers Apple iCloud+, Apple Music, Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium and Google One.

The Rs 1,249 plan covers four SIMs and includes the same subscriptions as the Rs 1,049 plan.

The Rs 1,449 plan covers four SIMs and adds Netflix Basic to Apple iCloud+, Apple Music, Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium and Google One.

The Rs 1,799 plan covers five SIMs and includes Netflix Standard, Apple iCloud+, Apple Music, Amazon Prime, JioHotstar, Xstream Play Premium and Google One.

All the plans include one free international roaming trip per SIM every year.

How to get Airtel’s new postpaid plans

Existing Airtel postpaid and prepaid customers can upgrade through the Airtel app or by visiting an Airtel store.

Customers using another telecom operator can switch to Airtel Postpaid by raising a request through the Airtel app or visiting a nearby Airtel store.
