ANINew Delhi: The Indian Youth Congress (IYC) on Sunday claimed more than 20,000 of its workers from across the country participated in the INDIA bloc's rally at Ramlila Maidan against alleged "vote chori", reiterating its demand for resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
The organisation described the agitation as 'Freedom Struggle 2.0', saying young people had travelled thousands of kilometres to the capital in response to its 'Chalo Delhi' call to protest against alleged electoral irregularities and demand accountability from the Election Commission.
IYC national president Uday Bhanu Chib said the overwhelming participation reflected the youth's concern over the credibility of electoral mechanisms.
"The overwhelming participation of more than 20,000 Youth Congress workers in today's Ramlila Maidan rally has sent a powerful message that India's youth will not remain silent when the credibility of our electoral system is questioned," he said.
Reiterating the demand for Kumar's resignation, Chib said the organisation would continue its campaign until accountability is ensured.
IYC national in-charge Manish Sharma termed the rally a struggle to protect constitutional values and democratic accountability.
"This is not merely a political programme; it is a struggle for constitutional values and democratic accountability," Sharma said, describing it as 'Freedom Struggle 2.0'.
The IYC said it would continue mobilising young people across the country as part of its campaign for electoral transparency and institutional accountability.
