APWhen is the last date to vote in US midterms
Tuesday, November 3, 2026 is the election day for the 2026 US midterm polls. You have to vote on that day itself in person and if you are mailing, ensure it reaches the authorites in due time. Many states offer multiple options, including designated drop boxes and in-person delivery to local election offices. Deadlines also vary by state. For example, Ohio requires mail-in ballots to reach the county board of elections by 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. California, meanwhile, accepts ballots postmarked by Election Day, provided they arrive by November 10.Polling hours also vary across the country. Some polling locations in Indiana and Kentucky close as early as 6 p.m. Eastern Time, while the last polling stations in Alaska's Aleutian Islands may remain open until 1 a.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday. Voters should confirm the opening and closing times of their local polling stations, as these can vary even between counties.

Results date
After the votings, news organisations will declare the names of the projected winners based on their surveys. However, the official results will take time.States certify the results only after completing the vote-counting process, known as the canvass, and other required procedures.
Some closely contested races could take days or even weeks to resolve, particularly in states where margins are narrow or large numbers of mail-in ballots are yet to be counted. For instance, in 2022, control of the House of Representatives was not determined until more than a week after Election Day.
There is no reliable state-by-state timetable for declaring winners. Poll closing times are known, but counting speeds, mail ballots, provisional ballots and recounts can affect when a race is called.
Certification deadlines also vary from state to state. Georgia must certify its general election results by November 20. In California, county election officials have until December 3 to certify results, while statewide certification by the Secretary of State is scheduled for December 11.
