AgenciesGangsters Himanshu Bhau and Neeraj Faridpuria in custody in US.
Following reports of his detention in Nevada by TOI, sources revealed that a brief, staged detention in February by Bhau and his associate Neeraj Faridpuria-intended to exploit legal loopholes and secure asylum, backfired and ruined their plan.
The duo faces more than 25 criminal cases across Delhi, Haryana, and Punjab, including murder charges. Once they deliberately surrendered to immigration authorities to launch asylum petitions, their biometrics and personal information were entered into the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) tracking system, triggering immediate red flags.
TOI.inAccording to sources, fugitives from India have been aggressively attempting this modus operandi. Anmol Bishnoi, brother of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, previously tried a similar tactic before being caught.
Currently held at the Henderson Detention Center under ICE jurisdiction, Bhau had evaded global law enforcement for over four years using a forged passport under the alias Himanshu Singroha.
However, his calculated scheme to get himself intentionally detained alongside his chief associate, Neeraj Faridpuria—who was also using a counterfeit passport under the name Neeraj Kaushik—ultimately led to their undoing.
When the two surrendered to immigration officials to begin their asylum applications, their biometrics and details were logged into the ICE tracking system. Utilizing critical leads from this database entry, Indian law enforcement agencies and U.S. security officials investigated deeper into the identity of “Himanshu Singroha”.
Through cross-verification involving local intelligence sources, police contacts, and diplomatic channels, authorities verified that the person in custody was indeed the high-profile fugitive Himanshu Bhau.
TOI.inIndian authorities provided a comprehensive dossier—including a photo showing Faridpuria with firearms along with matching biometric data, confirming that the duo was operating under forged documents. Consequently, they were formally detained, and official updates were shared with Indian law enforcement.
Both gangsters are linked to several high-profile crimes, including a 2024 murder in South Delhi’s Aya Nagar where over 70 bullets were fired, a related recent killing, the 2019 murder of Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary in Faridabad, and a shooting incident outside YouTuber Elvish Yadav’s home.
With their detention in a Nevada facility confirmed, Indian agencies are collaborating with U.S. authorities to fast-track their extradition. A specialized team is expected to be deployed to facilitate the deportation process.
