AgenciesAkasa Air has launched flights between Visakhapatnam and New Delhi, becoming the third airline to operate on the route, Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu said.
Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu announced the development in a post on X on Sunday, welcoming the airline to Andhra Pradesh and noting its return to the Vizag region after three years.
“More options for Vizag-Delhi flyers! Starting today, we have an added flight connecting Visakhapatnam to the National capital, with Akasa Air launching operations as the 3rd airline on the sector,” Naidu said.
He added that the new service would provide greater flexibility in flight timings and more options for passengers travelling to and from Alluri Sitarama Raju Airport at Bhogapuram.
The launch comes as Visakhapatnam expands its aviation infrastructure. The city's new Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport at Bhogapuram began commercial operations on August 17, 2026, with domestic and international services connecting the region to destinations across India, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. Developed and operated by GMR Visakhapatnam International Airport Ltd, the airport has an initial annual passenger-handling capacity of six million, with plans for phased expansion to more than 40 million passengers annually.
