New Delhi: Haier India is set to invest ₹7,000 crore - its largest investment in India to date - in a manufacturing facility in Andhra Pradesh.

With this investment, the home appliances and consumer electronics major will make an entry into South India. Haier India has manufacturing facilities in Pune (Maharashtra) and Greater Noida (Uttar Pradesh). According to sources, the Andhra Pradesh government has earmarked 250 acres of land in Satyavedu mandal in Tirupati district to set up the plant. The company will invest in two phases - about ₹4,500 crore in the first phase and ₹2,500 crore in the second phase - by 2032. As per the proposal submitted to the state government, the investment is expected to generate direct employment for 6,000 people (working within the manufacturing facility) and 15,000 indirect employment by 2032. This is the company's largest manufacturing push in India, as it targets revenue of ₹22,000 crore by 2028.

The facility will manufacture air conditioners, washing machines, televisions, and small appliances, including air purifiers and kitchen appliances. The first phase is expected to be operational by 2028.

Haier's choice of Satyavedu places it at the centre of one of India's fastest-growing electronics manufacturing belts, the Tirupati-Chennai-Nellore corridor in southern Andhra Pradesh. Its anchor is Sri City, a ready-built industrial park of about 7,500 acres on the Andhra Pradesh-Tamil Nadu border, home to more than 200 companies from nearly 30 countries. Foxconn, Panasonic and Flex already operate here, and Daikin, Blue Star, Havells and Amber have made it a national hub for air conditioners. LG Electronics is building its third Indian plant on 247 acres to produce air conditioners, compressors, refrigerators and washing machines, while its Korean suppliers are investing alongside it.

The government-run electronics manufacturing clusters in Tirupati house Dixon, TCL and other component makers. The region is well connected for export-oriented manufacturing. It sits on National Highway 16, about 55 km from Chennai.

The three container ports at Chennai, Ennore and Kattupalli are within easy reach, and Krishnapatnam port to the north is a node on the Chennai Industrial Corridor. Airports at Chennai and Tirupati further enhance connectivity.
