    Kolkata to host the ET Make in India SME Regional Summit on September 4

    Kolkata, the capital of West Bengal, known for its rich intellectual heritage and vibrant culture, is also a city witnessing notable business growth in recent times. Its growing economic infrastructure, connectivity to the ports, and well-established trade and manufacturing sectors make it an ideal hub for small businesses.

    In light of Kolkata’s growing significance in the country’s SME sector, the Economictimes.com is set to host the next session of the ET Make in India SME Regional Summit in the city on September 4.

    The ET Kolkata SME Summit will begin with a keynote address on the topic ‘From handlooms to high-tech: How policy is shaping the potential of Bengal’. It will be addressed by Partha Chowdhury, Joint Director, MSME (BG) of Directorate of MSME, Govt. of West Bengal.

    There will be a special address by Anupam Gayen, Zonal head, NSIC Kolkata.

    Following the special address, an exclusive fireside chat will follow featuring Nagaraj Garla, Executive Director, IDBI Bank, who will discuss ‘Catalysing Make in India Growth: IDBI Bank’s Strategic Imperatives for Empowering MSMEs’.

    This will be followed by an engaging panel discussion on the topic ‘Kolkata 2030: A vision for MSME-driven economic transformation’. The panellists here include Ramesh Kumar Juneja, Vice Chairman, Council for Leather Exports and Director of J.C. International; Rajeev Singh, Director General, Indian Chamber of Commerce (ICC); Prabir Bhattacharjee, Secretary General, Tea Association of India and Pallavi Luharuka, Founder & CEO, Royal Bengal Greentech.

    The summit will end with a fireside chat with Keshav Bhajanka, Executive Director of Century Plyboards India Ltd. The SME summit will also serve as a platform fostering connections between local small businesses and industry leaders, where they can engage, connect, and have an open dialogue.

    This endeavour will be conducted under the theme of ‘Empowering MSMEs: Driving India’s Century of Sustainable Growth’ to champion, acknowledge, and fortify the Indian MSME sector. It will be conducted by Economictimes.com with IDBI Bank as the Banking & Lending Partner, Canon as the Tech Enabler and Audi Kolkata as Gold Partner. Each summit will comprise a diverse array of discussions and sessions, including panel discussions, masterclasses, and showcases of MSME solutions.

    This is the third annual edition of the ET Make in India Regional Summit series. In the inaugural year, the summit covered Ahmedabad, Chennai, and Hyderabad. In this edition, 20 cities will be covered, including Thane, Nagpur, Dehradun, and Noida.
