AAP MP Sanjay Singh criticises TMC rebel MPs meeting Lok Sabha Speaker amid political tensions, launching sharp remarks against the ruling establishment.
He alleged that those in power are misusing institutions and central agencies.
Singh further said that leaders who left Mamata Banerjee’s camp had won elections in her name and on the party symbol, and therefore should have resigned if they disagreed with her ideology.
He also questioned whether they had realised any drawbacks of the party only after losing elections, in a pointed remark on the ongoing political developments.
In Assam’s Banipur area, two pistols were recovered from a rice sack found near a railway track during a joint inspection by Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel, officials said.
Assistant Security Commissioner of RPF Tinsukia, Mohanlal, stated that the discovery was made during a routine check by GRP and RPF staff who were moving towards Malpur station yard. He said the team noticed a rice sack lying on the railway track and, suspecting something unusual, picked it up for inspection.
Upon searching the sack, officials found two weapon-like items wrapped in plastic. Mohanlal added that when one of the covers was opened, it was confirmed to be a pistol. Further investigation into the recovery is underway.
Kremlin adviser Yuri Ushakov said US President Donald Trump told Russian President Vladimir Putin that ending the war in Ukraine is vital and that he is prepared to assist in efforts to resolve the conflict. Ushakov also said Trump told Putin that an agreement on Iran was close, with Putin expressing satisfaction that the conflict would come to an end. According to Ushakov, Trump further informed Putin that US envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner would visit Russia soon.
Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri said discussions are underway to expand the availability of UPI across more cities in France. He noted that the payment platform is already operational at several locations in the country and is set to be introduced at Paris' Charles de Gaulle Airport and the airport in Nice in the coming week.
Misri made the remarks in Nice, France, highlighting ongoing efforts to broaden UPI's reach and accessibility for users in the country.

TMC MLA Madan Mitra criticised the party's rebel MPs for meeting Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, saying they were elected using the name and image of Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress. He described their actions as a betrayal and questioned their attempt to function under a separate leadership in Parliament. Mitra said such a move sets a poor precedent and claimed there was more to the developments than pressure, suggesting that other factors were at play.

TMC MP Kirti Azad said there can be no split in violation of the Constitution after submitting a letter from party leader Abhishek Banerjee to Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla. Azad said he informed the Speaker that those seeking a separate position have no legitimacy and alleged that their actions are unconstitutional. He also criticised their conduct, saying they had acted against the party despite benefiting from it.
Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar said the Congress government's guarantee schemes, including Gruha Lakshmi and Gruha Jyothi, will continue and will not be suspended for any reason. He urged the public not to believe opposition claims that the schemes are being discontinued. Shivakumar said a review is being conducted after reports that some individuals created fake records in the names of deceased persons to obtain benefits. He said the exercise is aimed at verifying beneficiary details and ensuring that benefits reach eligible recipients.
