A missed alarm, a switched-off phone, and a ticking clock at 3 am. What followed was not panic driving across Mumbai, but a quick-thinking move that turned a grocery delivery app into an emergency lifeline. A late-night Zepto order, a responsive delivery partner, and real-time coordination came together to ensure a woman didn’t miss her 6 am flight. The story, shared online, has since sparked conversations about reliability, human effort, and how tech shows up when it matters most.

Rishabh Agarwal took to social media to recount the unexpected incident involving his sister. She had an early morning flight scheduled for 6 am and had asked their mother to wake her up at 3 am. However, by 3.15 am, things took a worrying turn when their mother called Rishabh in panic, saying his sister’s phone was switched off and she wasn’t responding.

At that hour, Rishabh faced two choices. He could travel from Parel to Powai, a journey that would take around 40 minutes, or try something unconventional. He chose the latter and placed a Zepto order to his sister’s address at 3.20 am, hoping the delivery itself would alert her.

Once the order was placed, Rishabh explained the situation to the delivery partner, Vikas. Understanding the urgency, Vikas immediately agreed to help. He stayed on call with the family for the next 10 minutes and reached the location by 3.30 am. The delivery wasn’t just about dropping off items. It also became an instant safety check, ensuring that everything was alright and that Rishabh’s sister was awake in time for her flight.

Rishabh credited the seamless experience, timely delivery, and the delivery partner’s willingness to go beyond the brief for helping his sister catch her flight. He also thanked Zepto founders Aadit Palicha and Kaivalya V, calling the platform a safety check for loved ones in moments of uncertainty.

    Zepto responds

The story quickly caught the attention of Zepto’s leadership. Chief Brand Officer Chandan Mendiratta reacted by saying that while Zepto delivers alarm clocks, they never imagined becoming one themselves. COO Vikas Sharma also responded, acknowledging the effort of the delivery partner. He shared that, on behalf of Vikas, he was glad the team could help and expressed pride in the delivery partner for going above and beyond customer expectations. He also thanked Rishabh Agarwal for sharing the experience.

The post drew reactions from users online as well. One comment highlighted how stories like these underline what reliability truly means in real life, especially during odd hours, and praised both the delivery partner and the systems that make such quick responses possible.
