Assi OTT release date is here: Where and when to watch the courtroom thriller starring Taapsee Pannu

The courtroom drama Assi has been in discussion for a while now, especially after its theatrical run earlier this year. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the film opened in cinemas on February 20, 2026, and got a lot of attention for the subject it takes up. While the response from critics was largely positive, the film didn’t really manage to pull big numbers at the box office. Now, it is heading to OTT, which many viewers were waiting for.

It touches on issues like victim-blaming, societal silence, and how long and exhausting the legal process can become. Apart from Taapsee Pannu, the film features Kani Kusruti as Parima. The supporting cast includes Revathy, Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub. There are also appearances by Naseeruddin Shah and others.

Many reviews pointed out that Taapsee’s role as Advocate Raavi stands out, showing her as someone who keeps pushing despite setbacks. The film also marks another collaboration between her and director Anubhav Sinha, who have worked on socially driven stories before.

Even though Assi received appreciation for its writing and performances, it didn’t perform strongly in theatres. Reports suggest that it wrapped up its run with modest earnings despite the positive word around it. This again shows the gap that sometimes comes between critical praise and audience turnout for serious, issue-based films.
